∙ 11y agoI've seen a few reports on the internet of people being overweight with diagnosed hyperthyroidism, so I guess it's possible. Probably happens occasionally because hyperthyroidism often increases appetite. Any weight loss that's caused by the faster metabolism could therefore be offset by increased energy intake. That said, weight LOSS, not weight GAIN, is much more common. Ask your doctor for a blood test if you want to know if your thyroid is working properly.
