yes, absolutely! Non-identical twins have a tendancy to be hereditary on your mother's side of the family. So for a female if your mother or mother's mother had non-identical twins there is a highler likelihood you might. Still, many twins don't have twins, and many people who aren't a twin do have twin. The increase in IVF has increase the number of multiple births in recent decades.

Yes, it's possible. My mother had natural triplets (one of the set being me) and there is no known history of multiple births on either side of my family! There is a connection between genetics and fraternal (non-identical) twinning, but this doesn't mean that fraternal twins cannot occur in families without a history of multiples. Identical twinning is random so far as medical science currently knows, so theoretically any fertile woman could have identical twins.

Also, remember that just because there is no knownhistory of twins in a family, it is still possible that members of the family in previous generations conceived twins but one died in the womb at an early enough stage for the embryo/fetus to be reabsorbed into the mother's body. This is called Vanishing Twin Syndrome, or VTS for short.

Do you spell twins' or twin's?

That will depend. Presumably you are talking about possessives. If you are referring to one individual as a twin and something that belongs to that twin, then it is twin's. So if you are talking about the computer belonging to one twin it would be: The twin's computer. If you are talking about something jointly owned by twins, then it is is twins' that would be used. So if you were referring to the parents of the two people, it would be: The twins' parents. If you are not talking about possessives but talking about plural, then it is twins.
