Can you leave External Hard Drive connect to computer at all times?

There's no reason why you should't unplug it. If the computer is relatively stable (ie not being moved around as a laptop would be) - you can simply leave devices connected to it, even when not in use.

It depends on the type of file you are talking about.If you back up your documents (Word, Excel) or photographs then you can certainly delete them from your computer hard drive once they're on the external hard drive. If you need them again you can simply plug the external hard drive to the computer in order to access them.If you're talking about program files than you have to consider whether or not the external hard drive will always be plugged into your computer. If you move a program file and then unplug the external hard drive then you should not delete the files unless you plan on plugging the external hard drive in (or leaving it attached) every time you want to use that program. If you don't mind accessing a program from the external hard drive every time you need to use it than you can certainly delete it from your computer hard drive. Otherwise, make a copy to the external hard drive as a backup in case you have computer problems and leave the original version you want to run regularly on your computer.

Remove your HDD from your broken PC. Then put it into a good and working desktop PC with the same HDD connections. Boot the computer to that drive and copy your files to either an external hard drive, a portable hard drive, or a flash drive (if you have one big enough.) After the transfer is done, copy the files to wherever you may want them. It's also possible to leave your old hard drive in the computer you are using to transfer these files, or reformat your HDD so you can have extra storage in that PC:)

The downloaded file has to be kept along with the torrent to seed. It is that downloaded file you are uploading. You can move the file to an external drive and still keep seeding, but you would have to tell the torrent where the new location is.

Put both on the first IDE and set the HD with windows as master and the second one as slave. To do this you have to look on the back of the HD and set the jumpers (little clips) to the right setting. It usually says that on a sticker on the HD.

There are not 4 steps to installing a CD-ROM drive, there are 9-10 steps. # Open the computer case and decide which drive bay you wish to use. (Suggest using the top bay). # Most older cases use screws to secure the drive to the bay, and some use a clipping mechanism. (step is optional if this is first time CD drive has been installed). Remove face plate from front of bay. # Slide the drive into the bay. Leave enough of the drive protruding to be flush with the front cover of the computer case. # Push the clipping mechanisms back into place, or put 2 screws into each side of the drive (this is for bays that use screws) to secure the drive (use screws that came with the drive. Long screws can damage the drive. # Connect a power cord to the drive. # For EIDE drives, connect the 40-pin cable to the IDE motherboard connector and the drive. # Attach one end of the audio cord to the drive and the other to the sound card or, for onboard sound, to the motherboard. # Some drives have a ground connection, with one end of the ground cable attaching to the computer case. Follow the directions included with the drive. # Check all connections and turn the power on. Press the eject button on the front of the drive. If it works, power is getting to the drive. Put the computer case cover back on. # Turn on the PC. Follow the steps in the Add New Hardware wizard to add the device driver for the CD drive.

I don't believe so--as long as it's a USB port, it shouldn't matter where it is. Your computer should recognize the drive once you plug it into a USB port--and will recognize it again if you plug it into a diffent USB port, so I'd recomend that you plug it into the same port each time, or better yet, just leave it plugged in. Front, back, side, bottom or top, it shouldn't matter where it gets plugged into.
