It is best to use "hibernate." That saves everything to the hard drive and shuts the system down, saving energy. It will boot back in a few seconds to wherever you left it. Standby is OK for short periods, but it uses more energy. More importantly, if there is a power fluctuation, the system will simply shut down and you will lose whatever you are working on.
Well its hard to asess because ethier or, could work. Personally i leave my computer in standby mode most of the time. But there are some times that you will need to shut down and it is a healthly choice to shut down the computer every now and then like maybe every second day? Now another thing is, if you are an IT student that needs to run from class to class evry hour i'd suggest just leaving it in standby mode because it takes way too long to boot up after you shut down.
A example of waste when using equipment in the office is when most employees will leave the computer on standby all night. How ever even though it is on standby it is still using electricity and this is waste and they can easily just shut down
Because its really silly, its costs alot to keep a TV on standby, so why do it?
Stand by uses less energy that running the appliance. But if you are not using it, like a computer, you save all the energy by turning it off at the wall. One machine on standby doesn't use a lot of electricity, but billions all over the world, left on all the time, use a vast amount of energy.
The only way it could be dangerous is for to catch the surface it is sitting on to burst into flames. That will not happen you close all the windows before putting it on standby. Mine has been running non stop for a couple of years now. It is better to turn it off when you leave for a longer period of time.
Leaving devices on "standby" means they constantly use a small amount of electrical power. This amount is much smaller than when the device is actually doing something useful. The purpose of "standby" is to have the device available almost immediately, if so required. The problem is that if the device remains in standby for a long time, the energy thus used adds up. For instance, the amount of energy used every minute might not be significant, but if you leave the device in standby all night (say, for 12 hours), it can become quite significant.
No! if you leave your computer off it wont spread around your computer but if you leave your computer on and for get about it it will seriously damage your computer and it will cost a lot to repair your computer
When you put your computer in stand-by mode below are the things that happen in general- 1)Your processor goes into sleep mode(In this mode it stops processing but saves its state) 2)RAM goes into sleep mode(It saves state, and read write are not allowed to save power-Depends on your mother board) 3)Devices like mother board and keyboard or speakers are cut off power. All this saves power and also saves overworking of your devices. And so it is a good practice to out your computer into Standby mode when leaving it for short period of time.
Just leave it on
In order to charge the tablet from the computer - you need to leave the computer switched on.
No its should have a hibernate feature after a few minutes inactivity. Rebooting constantly or restarting frequently is supposed to be bad for a computer according to some computer experts. Most office buildings leave them on all the time for that reason.
