Another thing you might consider is the 3D TV will also make the best HD picture. The sound from a flat screen is inferior to good speakers.

I would recommend LG Cinema 3D. LG Cinema 3D TVs are 3D TVs that use LED backlighting so both you and your fiance get what you want. I had the same dilemma with my girlfriend and we're both happy with LG Cinema 3D. Its LED backlighting gives brigther and more crisp images in both 2D and 3D. Ours is LW6500.
