Some programs created by Microsoft have versions for the Mac. For example, Microsoft Office is available for the Mac operating system. They've also developed Microsoft Messenger, Virtual PC, Outlook Express, and other applications for the Mac. If an application created by Microsoft is not available for the Mac, you can always run Windows on your Mac. If you've got an Intel processor, you can run Windows with Parallels (www.parallels.com), and if your Mac doesn't have an Intel processor, you can always use Microsoft's Virtual PC, which "simulates" windows.

And just in case you meant "Can I use programs developed for Windows on my MacBook," the answer is the same: unless there is a specific Mac version, you'll need to run Windows through Parallels, Bootcamp, or another similar software.

Hope I've answered your question!

No.

However, some applications have been ported, or developed for, the other.

For example, Apple Safari, the web browser, is available for windows users. That said, it is a different type of file, and you can't use the version that isn't for your system.

If the Apple Mac has the same Microsoft software installed then it should be able to handle the documents. The Mac's own applications can handle some standard documents. For example TextEdit can work with standard Word docs. If you add Apple's own iWorks software than there is a greater degree of compatibility. The free Open Office, or the Mac's own version NeoOffice, can also handle most document formats. (See links below)

Windows software is compatible with Apple Computers, but you must have Windows installed on your Mac to do so. If you have a Mac made after 2006, you are able to install Windows on your computer, and you can use a virtualization software such as Parallels Desktop to run Windows from your Mac.

If you are only using Mac and no VM or Bootcamp, then no.

However, Bootcamp allows you to dual boot Windows.

If you prefer not to restart each time you change OS, there are options like VMWare or Parallels that you can use. Virtualbox, I think, is free.
