Just like anything else, the starter solenoid will eventually wear out. They can short, short to ground and stick.
How do you remove the starter selinoid on a kawasaki mule 550, 2000 model
It is on the top of the starter.
my guess would be the starter selinoid
check your wiring to selinoid and relay and battery posts also make sure plugs and or wires are good and check the battery
My first guess would be the starter selinoid. No, I don't know where it is in your vehicle. Follow the big wire back from the starter to find it. You're going to need a test light for this. Make sure there's power on the "battery" side of the selinoid, if YES, make sure there's power on the "starter" side when the key is turned to start. If NO, replace the selinoid - If YES, make sure there's power to the starter, if YES, replace the starter.
check starter connection,if 12 volts there probably bad starter
Depends on the year, but basicaly, there will be a large wire/cable comming off the starter, follow that as it goes DIRECTLY to the selinoid... on the selinoid, you will see another large wire/cable..that goes directly to the POS on the battery..so...you can also follow the large cable comming off the POS battery post, and find the selinoid...
see Haynes repair manual 36071, page 12-29.
located next to the starter selinoid on the inside front panel between the headlight and the radiator
Either your battery is run down or the starter has gone bad. Try tapping the selinoid (small cylinder)on the side of the starter.
If the starter has a direct ground short, it is possible that many electrical accessories/electrical components will act like they have hardly any power or not come on at all. Fastest way to find out, by jumping the two big screws on the selinoid. (You do this by placing a screwdriver across the two bolts) The vehicle will do nothing and the starter will have some sparking to it, only if the starter or celiniod is bad. If it is good, it will attempt to start.
sounds like your selinoid is bad. it might be separate from your starter or it might be attached. that means you can get a new one or try a new starter
