You can certainly sign someone else up for Facebook from your computer if they do not know how to do it themselves.

First, you need to log out of Facebook yourself, so it will be available for the new person to log in. Do this by clicking the downward-pointing triangle in the blue bar at the top of the web site, then selecting "Log Out" from the menu. Facebook will give you the start page offering options to log in or sign up for a new account.

To sign your friend up, click the green "Sign Up" button at the bottom of the page, and follow the prompts to create an account. You should probably have your friend with you when you do this, so you can let him or her fill out any information Facebook requires. Make sure that your friend can remember their password.

Once the account has been created, you can log out of it the same way you logged out of your own account, and your friend can log into Facebook from his or her own computer.
