u can only trade with Pokemon games on the ds with ds Pokemon games (diamond pearl, iono about platinum) the gba games cannot. all u need to do is put 2 ds close to each other and that's it. all u do is do the pokecenter thing.
The Desmume emulataor does have the capability for internet options however its incredibly slow and often doesn't work. It might be more possible in the future for DS roms to trade with each other but as of right now its not.
