Currently my College will hold a hearing this Friday due to my relationship with Scribd. I need to know why a they have such an interest. I thought it should be perfectly okay to publish my work.?

At many universities, works written as assignments become the copyright of the school. This is often cited when a student turns in the same or similar papers for two different courses: the second paper is an infringement of the school's copyright.
Another issue may be that the university demands coursework to be new, unpublished material, so if your works appear on Scribd first, that might violate their policies. The first case seems more likely, though.
