How do you diaper a one week old baby?
Find a nice soft roomy area to change baby at, a changing table or bed work well. Have your new Diaper, Wipes, Baby Powder, Cotton Swabs and Rubbing Alcohol handy, and Rash Cream as needed. Lay baby down on his/her back. Unbutton/unzip bottoms and gentley grasp both of babies feet in one hand and lift up and slide bottoms upwards or off revealing babies diapered bottom and belly button. Place clean unused diaper under babies bottom and gentley set babies legs back down. Unvelcro or pin babies dirty diaper and have 2 wipes handy, one to cover babies bottoms with so there is no squirting action and one to gentley cleanse the babies tush. Wipe a baby girl front to back and in all the little creases, thighs and all. Wipe a little boy if uncircumcised by cleaning all of the surrounding area and pulling back skin and gently wiping around and returning the skin. If circumcised theres no need to pull skin back. Place used wipes in the dirty diaper and roll the diaper forward, balling it up in your hands. Secure the tabs and set aside. Apply rash cream if needed and lightly powder towards yourself careful not to get in babies face because it could cause suffocation if powder is inhaled. Pull up the front on the clean diaper and secure the tabs lower than the top of the diaper. Fold the top of the diaper down so it is not rubbing and touching the belly button. Have your cotton swabs with rubbing alcohol handy and carefully blot the umbilical cord stub clean. Let air dry. Get your baby dressed repeating the same steps you used to get baby undressed. Never Leave Baby Unattended on Bed or Changing Table While Changing. If You Must Leave The Area, Place Baby Safely In Crib Or On Floor Is No Other Safe Area Is Present. Don't Forget To Toss The Diaper, Those Can Get Stinky Really Fast!
