People of Christian faith have every reason and every right to believe that he did.
Others believe that the earth was created by natural processes.
This question is still being debated and may always be debated. If everybody agrees that a god really created the Earth, the next debate will be which god created it.
The Holy Bible, which is the book of faith for Christians, says that it took God six days to create the planet Earth. On the seventh day, he rested. Which is an interesting concept. If God is all powerful, then why did he need to rest? First, he created light and separated it from the dark(light was called day, the dark was called night). Then he created a dome which he called sky. Then he created the separation of the seas known as land. Then he created the stars and moon to rule the night and the sun to rule the day. Then he created plants, birds, fish, and mammals. Finally he created Man to watch over the plants and animals.
Another View:
The Earth was not made in seven days. A Day refers to a period of time that is equal to one revolution of the earth around the sun. Before the sun existed there were no "days." Creation was gradually formed after the Big Bang. Baha'i scripture explains how the Big Bang happened and the result has been found in cosmic and geological evidence.
This is a matter of faith. The Christian religion teaches that God made earth, although of course other religions say that their gods made the earth.
Scientists say that the earth actually formed from an accretion disc circling around the sun, some 4.54 billion years ago.

Yes, that is what tradition states (Genesis ch.1, Exodus 20:11, Isaiah 40:28). See also:
Read carefully, one would soon discover that the Earth was already made and was in darkness under water. The very first thing God did in His 'renewal' of the planet for humankind was to divide the day from the night - both 12 hour periods:
Genesis 1:1-7New King James Version (NKJV)The History of Creation1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.3 Then God said, “Let there be lightâ€; and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.
'GOD' didn't even create Earth there for he didn't move it from else where! :)

The Norse God Odin was referred to as the "all-Father".
God didn't create the earth without form and void. The original manuscripts say that the earth BECAME without form and void. He destroyed that first age, but not the earth.
Combine earth + water will create mud.
No, on the second day God created the separation between the heavens and the earth.
