yes methadone was made during WW2 by the Germans because they could not get morphine so in order to keep there injured solders out of pain they synthesized a morphine like substance to keep there men out of pain when injured.. also Hitler was a supposed heroin addict

But, during WWII, German scientists developed Dolophine, the precurser to methadone, as a response to the Allies having cut off all sources of opiates to the Axis powers. They needed something to relieve the pain of wounded German soldiers, and this was the result. But "Hitler and henchmen" have nothing to do with it.
