Did anyone like Charles Dickens

History suggests that most people who knew Dickens did indeed like him; he certainly liked most people. He was a gregarious and articulate man who enjoyed being the center of attention. With his mastery of the English language and his remarkable ability to spin a tale, he must have been a marvelous conversationalist and sparkling dinner party guest. His separation from his wife Catherine surely caused pain and division amongst his family members, but it speaks volumes that his sister-in-law remained his friend and housekeeper till the end of his life.
