Not to the best of my knowledge. John M. Browning designed the 1905 Colt .45 automatic pistol which was redesigned and accepted by the US Army in 1911 for service and continues to be manufactured by several companies in essentially the same configuration today. It's original design provided for a seven shot magazine however extended magazines have been manufactured up to 25 shot snail drum magazines (if memory serves) and various others, In this respect, the answer is a weak "yes". There have been double stack 45's made. Only one I can think of off hand is Para Ordnance.
