Almost. The term cudgel refers to a short, heavy stick or club that is thicker at one end; often cut from blackthorn or other hedgerow hardwood timber.

Ancient Egyptian overseers, tax collectors, police and other officials are shown holding sticks, but these are of uniform thickness called xt in hieroglyphs [the word simply means "wood"]. Beatings would certainly be given with these sticks, just as police in modern Arabic countries use their sticks today, but they would not normally be likely to break bones or knock a victim unconscious as a cudgel might do.
