The movie leaves out details.. They have to in order to make sure the movie isn't too long, but there are some things they could have changed to be like the books, without it being too long. They also leave out some of the important themes of the book. They don't really show how big of a deal or the real meaning behind some of Katniss's actions. It is recommended that you read the book to understand the movie. The book is better, but the movie is still really great.
