If you're talking fast food from the chain eateries, yes. It's very, very hard to find one that isn't. But many "local" small restaurants are fighting back with MSG-free hamburger. It's actually a selling point. Look around in your area. In the better bistros, you probably won't see it. The wise person considering a dining establishment would ask, though. Simple. Also, most ground beef doesn't have MSG in it, at least not the kind you buy in the store. That means home-made burgers are MSG free - unless the cook adds some.

All fast food restaurants use MSG. All chain restaurants use MSG as well. Most other restaurants have it because it is in the food they buy from restaurant supply companies. Restaurants today serve a lot of preprocessed food. The main ingredient in soup stocks used in restaurants is MSG.
If you put this product on your bare tongue with nothing else and the flavor seems "too good to be true," all by itself, chances are it has MSG in it. Unfortunately, we have discovered that many manufacturers can use many alternative ingredient names, all of which are just plain MSG. And I would not be surprised in the least if there are manufacturers who do not put MSG, or any of it's many forms, on the ingredient list at all. If you get a headache or any other MSG-related symptoms after using it, it probably has MSG in it. Use your head. This is not rocket science.
Yes, Subway uses MSG in its foods... lots of it.By law, MSG only has to be labeled as "flavoring", 99% of all "flavoring" in foods (Subway and otherwise) is MSG. Also, many Subway items have disodium inosinate & disodium guanylate listed as ingredients, this is the long name for MSG.[See link to nutritional information below]MSG is addictive and is a primary cause of obesity and is in almost all processed foods, including Subway.
Carefully check the ingredient declaration of all processed foods you buy. MSG or Monosodium glutamate should be declared.
It's actually not an allergy to MSG. The active part of MSG, glutamate, is used as a neruotransmitter in the brain and other nerve cells. Excess glutamate can overstimulate these brain cells and other nerve cells throughout the body and cause many different symptoms. Some people are very sensitive to MSG, but they're not allergic to it. One study showed that 25% of the people who consumed MSG in a meal reported having symptoms following MSG consumption. But when the people where given MSG without a meal in the morning, after being in a fasted state all night, all of the people reported symptoms from the MSG. Even moderately low blood sugar such as being in a fasted state all night or intense exercise will make you more sensitive to MSG.
