According to some, it is said that the bald eagle at around age 40 years flies to high ground and over the next 150 days knocks its beak off and allows another to grow in its place....apparently as the eagle ages the beak bends out of shape...the eagle continually bangs the beak against the rocks until the beak falls off....then a new beak takes its place.....once the new beak is in place the eagle then tears out its claws and new ones grow back in......this allows the eagle to live another 30 years or so.......the only problem I have with this is that the eagle cannot eat for those 150 days....so how does it survive.....further I have never heard nor seen an eagle that has been found without a beak.....so your guess is as good as mine ----- Edit by Thycondrius ----- Actually, eagles(including the bald eagle you mentioned) do not lose their beak or talons, unless by extreme action. The Eagle Rebirth is a Urban Legend and its not true. Normaly, losing its beak means death by loss of blood. Eagles, like all other animals, cannot "Choose" to extend their lifespam byy any means, and live normally till 30Y old. So "NO", eagles do not put out their beaks and talons and cannot support 5Monts of starvation.(They are not bears for christ sake)
They aren't really bald, they just have white feathers on their heads.
I think what the person is asking is :
"What age does the eagle's head (and tail) turn white?"
The answer is : the bald eagle's head & tail turns white when the bird reaches maturity around 5 years of age.
There is no age when the bald eagle loses any of its feathers. Unlike humans, birds do not lose hair (in their case feathers) during old age. The bald eagle is only called bald because its hairs are white like a bald or old man.
OMG! No kidding! Lol. Wow some people must live in cardboard boxes or caves.
The answer is: Bald eagles head & tail feathers begin to turn white (or bald) once the eagle begins to reach maturity, which is around 5 years of age.
In the wild they can live to about 25 or 30 years. In captivity and well cared for they can get as old as 40 years.
No. If their beaks broke off they would die, if their talons came off they would starve and all birds pull some of their feathers off when they're molting.
no bald eagles do not loose their beaks. from when they are little to when they are grown up there beaks just grow.
No, the beak is just as important as the talons for these birds, if they break their beaks they are pretty much certain to die
No, they do not.
7-8 weeks
its natural, they pluck out their own feathers either from stress or for the nest.
Young bald eagles typically shed their down feathers and grow primary feathers around 10 - 12 weeks after hatching. It is around this time that they will attempt their first flight. Those that survive (about 40% don't) will hang around the nest for another four to five weeks while their primary feathers continue to grow and strengthen. Therefore, a bald eagle will leave the next permanently around 14 - 17 weeks after hatching.
Bald Eagles don't live in groups, there are only the parents and babies until the babies are old enough to take care of themselves then they to leave to find their own mates
When a bird starts to pluck out it's own feathers it usually means it's distressed about something.
Bald eagles will return to the old nest, add new material, year after year, until the nest falls from its own weight. They then will construct a new one.

they Avery day Avery Avery second to get food and to run away from hunters
A bald eagle's weekness is its own eggs that lays. I mean, they just cant take it no more && decide to throw it down on the sidewalks so humans can make a mistake to capture it and make it as their pet.
that's a good question many experts say that an eagle is very smart when it comes to protecting itself. this is true , bald eagles produce a sweat that enables them to not be smelt by other animals . they also have night vision which enables them to see through the darkness in the world . Bald eagles are eaten by many things like cats , aligators, and some times people . this is really sad because i don't even think they would taste that good.... but the bald eagle has some hunting skills of its own like its ability to smell us a mile away this gives it plenty of time to attack. scientist have started putting leg-ans on eagles to protect their fragile legs.
Keep pollutants out of our waterways. Fish that eagles feed on store many of these chemicals in their bodies, and when the fish are eaten by the eagles, the poisons enter their bodies. Eagles once became endangered because of that very thing, but since certain pesticides like DDT have been banned, the bald eagle has made an amazing comeback, and is no longer an endangered species.
