Yes just imagine a spacer on every tooth! But don't worry the pain will go after a week and I will promise it will be WAY LESS painful and worth it:D

Does putting a dentistry spacer hurt?
NO.... its just a slight pressure and that's it.... spacers hurt more than braces though... put putting them in is nothing.
Does in hurt when you put spacers in your ear?
Take an ibuprophen before the appointment and you should be fine. It is kind of like a headache. While the orthodontist or nurse is putting in spacers it will not hurt. A day or so later a tooth may start to hurt. Just take an Advil or Motrin and the pain will go down. When the spacers come out, your mouth may be sore. If you need, take another Advil or Motrin. This person is wrong. It starts hurting a few hours after the spacers and you can't eat for a while. It's tolerable, but not fun.
You just got rubber bands in your mouth to prepare them for braces do the actual braces hurt more?
I found that the bands actually hurt a lot more than the actual braces...in fact putting the braces on was a piece of cake... :) i agree, i mean i have bands on ATM and im getting more braces (traintracks) in two days time and the pulling of the teeth from the bands is extremely painful and, as all my mates have traintracks, apprantley the actual braces don't hurt as much and the only thing that hurts when getting your braces on is the numbness in your butt when you have to sit there for an hour whilst the dentist puts the braces on :)
Why do spacers not hurt?
Spacers are tiny rubber bands that fit in between your teeth for edging. Edging is a silver thing that wrapes around your teeth. You have to keep spacers in for about 1 week and then you willl have then takes out by your dentist ONLY. If you take theses things out they hurt even worse than when u first got them put in, so just be patient and wait for your dentist to take them out. Dont be worried if you are to get spacers. In fact i have them in right now i had gotten them in 3 days ago and on March 5th im going to my dentist to get the spacers taken out and braces and edging put in. i delt with the pain and after a day or 2 the pain definetly goes away, dont be worried Good Luck, Nicole I got spacers and they didn't really hurt until the next day... take an advil and it wont be that bad. As a former and recent adult brace wearer, I'll answer this question by focusing on the word "hurt." Kids, I believe, are definitely more reactive to physical pain. So, if you are speaking of physical pain, perhaps braces do hurt more on kids. However, children's teeth move more easily too, so maybe they have an edge on adults there. On the other hand, as an adult, I had to go through a lot of emotional hurt with my braces. First of all, the industry is geared for children, and they have not adapted their techniques to adults yet, so I was hurt whenever I was treated like a child. Secondly, it really hurt me as an adult to give up control of my mouth to my orthodontist, not only for the entire time my braces were on, but, I found out later, braces are a lifetime commitment with the retainer and more, so my mouth is going to be controlled for life, I guess, by some sort of brace-related device and/or my orthodontist. Sure did not see that one coming. So, the gist is I guess it depends on what you mean by hurt. Hope that wasn't too long. I do think if you had braces as a kid and know what to expect and get them as an adult, maybe that wouldn't be as bad. But, I never had braces before and had no idea whatsoever of what to expect.
