Buddha only idenitifed the way to enlightenment. There is nothing to stop a person from independently reaching the same conclusions, in which case he or she could strive for enlightenment without ever hearing of the Buddha.
Unlike Christianity where Jesus is necessary for salvation, the Buddha is not a required belief for enlightenment in Buddhism. As Zen Biddhists put it,"If you meet the Buddha on the road- kill him.".
Buddhists believe in nirvana and thus do not believe in hurting anything.Their religion bans drugs.
I'm sure you mean Buddhists. They believe in the teachings of Buddha, a prophet born 500 years BC. He taught that our earthly life was temporary and consisted mostly of suffering. Enlightenment was the way forward. We have to do good things and resist mortal temptations in order to progress. The goal is Nirvana , which is perfection of the soul and peace in heaven.
Nirvana. They believe that it is achieved by taking the eight-fold path.
Buddha's teachings allow each one of us to take control of our future through an understanding of the laws of cause and effect.

In the Buddhist religion, Nirvana is the state of eternal bliss and liberation from the cycle of birth and death. It is the ultimate goal that individuals strive to attain through enlightenment and spiritual practice.
Nirvana is the ultimate "state" of extinguishing of all desires and cravings in Buddhism. But, Buddhism is more a philosophy of life than a religion. Buddhists do not believe in "God" and "soul/spirit". Nirvana is the absolute "truth" which is non-conceptual and therefore ineffable. " In contrast to all other monotheistic religions, the ultimate aim of an Buddhist monk or practising Buddhist is to break the infinite cycle of deaths and rebirths (SAMSARA), by attaining Nirvana or cessation of desire.
Hindus believe in moksha, which is the release from samsara (reincarnation). So in a way, they are very similar. But after achieving moksha, a person's soul is joined with Brahman, the world soul, while nirvana is the complete wiping from existence.
