No- but they make you FEEL cooler. Moving air will tend to evaporate mositure, and remove heat. But they do not lower the temperature in the room on their own- the motor actually INCREASES the room temperature a small amount. They CAN draw cooler air UP from the floor.
Yes. Although running ceiling fan may not lower the air temperature, moving air makes you feel cool and you could adjust the a/c to slightly higher temperature and hence same energy and money.
Ceiling fans are very effective for regulating temperatures in summer and winter. Depending on the location of your heat vents, you can use a ceiling fan to pull the heat up or push it down. In the summer, it keeps you cool with less electricity than air conditioning.
Our air conditoiner is being installed as we speak. Can I shower and turn on the ceiling fan?
Unless you are using an electronic air filter that requires a continuous stream of air, you're better off setting your unit's fan on "auto" and using ceiling fans in occupied rooms.Regards,Be-Cool ExpertCeiling fans are definitely not a waste of energy.Ceiling fans use very little electricity. Use them to circulate air in the house, to make the house feel cooler. By doing this, the thermostat setting for your air conditioner can be raised to 85°F, and still maintain the same comfort as the lower setting.[From The Home Energy Saver a webpage from the Berkeley Lab website.]If you only use ceiling fans in the rooms that you are in, then it will save a bundle. Just remember to turn the fans off when you leave a room. You can also buy motion sensors that will turn lights or fans on automatically.
Yes. It might not be too healthy for your carbon footprint considering all of the energy being used. but it is perfectly fine. using a ceiling fan and air conditioner at the same time actually will speed up the cooling down process since that fan is helping disperse air throughout the area.
Because the cool air from the air conditioner is denser than the warm air in the room and sinks. Placed high up the cool air will have time to get further from the air conditioner before it settles to the floor, allowing it to cool more of the room. Placed on the floor the cool air will mostly pool around the air conditioner and very little of the room will be cooled. Some air conditioner are actually placed relatively low in a room, but they have fans and baffles that blow the cold air upwards to the ceiling resulting in the same effect as placing the air conditioner high (maybe even better as the fan blows the cool air not only up to the ceiling but across it, possibly covering a larger volume of the room than cool air falling passively from an air conditioner placed high but without fans).

Under normal operation one fan will run until you turn on the air conditioner then both fans run.
An air conditioner with 2 horse power is equivalent to about 5 electric fans. 200 watts is about the same as one horsepower.
It all depends on the size of the ac unit and the fan size. Simple do the amps on both
It is the same thing as a metallic griid acoustic ceiling.
Most ceiling fans have exposed light bulbs that area easily removed by turning the cool bulb counterclockwise. The replacement bulb for a ceiling fan has a standard base, but the globe is a bit smaller than standard. These smaller bulbs are often stocked with the ceiling fans at your local appliance department or appliance store. Be sure to get the same wattage replacement bulb. Installing the bulb is just like any other lamp bulb. Screw in clockwise.
fans, it remains the same.
A raked ceiling is a type of ceiling that matches the same angle or line that the roof does. They may or may not have exposed beams.
