yes they do,they are normally saying that there are there when they snort or whinny, or they might be saying "where are you?!"

they dont really use soound that often to communicate, it tends to be body language. for example, the postition of their ears - if they are laid back on their head they are angry, if they are pricked forward they are interested in something or happy etc.

if they kick out, they are obviously not happy with the horse next to them or something like that.
