So the answer is that they do it to appease and appeal to their girl friends. Odd isn't it.
They do not wear fake tan and makeup because it makes them more attractive to men. Men are shallow creatures and tend to look at women's legs, breasts and buttocks before examining faces. Men are mostly a bit shy around women and will also respond extremely well to friendliness, openness, acceptance and a bit of flirtation and flattery, regardless of the long hours a woman has spent hiding her blemishes.
