That depends on what you mean by "rebel".

Does your electric shaver rebel?

Does your heating and AC system "rebel"?

Does your car "rebel"?

How about other mechanical devices in your life? Do you seem to have a rebellious refrigerator or dishwasher?

Robots are machines, just like all of the other machines mentioned above.

If you believe that the machines in your life are rebellious, perhaps you should avoid robotic devices.

Robotic devices are simply machines that have been connected to computer controlled switches and relays to cause the desired work to be performed.

Technically, your furnace and AC systems are probably robotic. The thermostat controls when the furnace generates heat; if the temperature drops too far, the thermostat closes a switch and the furnace heats up and blows warm air into your home. Robotics is basically the same thing.

Unfortunately, far too many people are incapable of separating the reality of THIS world from the fantasy world that has been created by Hollywood in which robots are smarter than people.

On the other hand, perhaps some of today's robots ARE smarter than some people. After all, my dishwasher has a sensor that determines how dirty the dishes are and runs an extra cycle for really dirty dishes. Some people can't even tell when they need a bath.
