you have to calculate the amount of calories and fat that you are consuming in total for the day. if you only drink a can of ensure as a meal substitute and maintain a low fat / low calorie diet for the remaining of the day then you are fine. but if you are drinking it in addition to a meal you will gain weight. it is used as a supplement for meals, for people who are not getting adequate nutrition with a regular diet such as the elderly and sick individuals. if you are planning on just dieting with this, its not worth it. just eat regular foods but limit your fat and calories and increase exercise.
