I have visited the Bahamas and yes you need a passport its a different country proved by they drive on the other side of the road.
Most Cruise Liners operate an island to provide unique ports of call for each company. Carnival operates Half Moon Cay. Royal operates Coco Cay Bahamas.
The Carnival Cruise Lines ship the "Carnival Ecstasy" began operations in 1991. It sails from Port Canaveral in Florida, alongside the Carnival Sensation and Carnival Dream. The four day cruise stops at Nassau, Half Mon Cay or Freeport - whereas the five day cruise stops at Nassau, Freeport and Half Moon Cay or Kay West.
That depends on how fast the cruise ship is traveling. Typically cruises from Baltimore take at least a day and a half to reach the Bahamas primarily due to the speed limits on the Chesapeake Bay.
The Half Moon Cay Restort is located in The Bahamas. Cruises to Half Moon Cay are available from the Carnival Website or from the Trip Advisor Website.

yes the food is included it comes at a buffet for lunch and breakfast but for dinner they have a restaurant you can go to Yes, almost all of the food on a Carnival cruise is free. There are certain restaurants you need to pay for but over half are free. The poster above me is correct, and I think you can go to any of the restaurants at anytime unless you've chosen YourTime dining.
Little San Salvador Island (or Half Moon Cay) is in the Bahamas

A Carnival Cruise Line ship has never sunk but there have been some notable mishaps. On the maiden voyage of the only ship in the "Golden Fleet", the "Mardi Gras" ran aground and was delayed. Shortly thereafter, the ship's slot machines were raided to get money to buy fuel so the ship could continue its cruise. In 1989 the "Celebration" collided with a disabled Cuban cement hauling freighter, slicing it in half, with loss of three lives. The Celebration returned to port with bow damage. There have been several other incidents involving "bumps" into other ships (e.g. - Royal Caribbean "Enchantment of the Seas in 2009) and docks (e.g. - St. Kitts in January 2010) but a ship bearing Carnival's name has never sunk.
