No you don't. But if you are connecting it to view the HD picture and enhanced sound you should be connecting it to an HD TV. There are a couple of connection choices here. Use either the component video (red/green/blue RCA connectors with the stereo - left and right (red and white RCA audio connectors for that input) or the newer HDMI which provides digital video and audio from the Blue Ray player to the TV. Some older HD TVs have DVI inputs which only accept digital video and require adapting the HDMI ouput of the player to the DVI input of the TV. I wouldn't recommend doing that though. In that case use the Component video input as in the first example. If the TV has none of the above connections you need a new or different TV that supports the technology.
Any HD television will handle a Bluray player.
Bluray is the disc format developed by Sony for HD video content. It is not a television format and only refers to the storage medium. All Bluray disc players need a display and it may be plasma, LDC or LED based. It is therefore impossible to compare Bluray to types of TV.
Any television will work with a Bluray player but to get the full quality of the Bluray format, you will need an HD television with an HDMI input. Televisions that do not have an HMDI input can use the analog output from the player but the signal will be SD rather than HD.
To watch a Bluray disc in high definition, an HDMI cable is needed. However, almost all Bluray players have an analog, standard definition output that can be connected to televisions that do not have HDMI inputs.
You will require a Bluray player to play a disc. To watch content in high definition, you will need an HD television with an HDMI connection between them. However, Bluray players have analog outputs to allow a standard definition signal to be connected to non HD televisions.
Digital TV is certainly better for watching a Bluray disc for one very simple reason. Bluray players normally have two types of output, one is HDMI (the digital output) and the other will be component or composite (the analog outputs). For a variety of reasons, the high definition signal is only available on the HDMI output. One of the main reasons is that HDMI signals can be encoded to prevent the content being copied. The analog outputs cannot be protected in the same way and will only provide a standard definition signal. Although analog signals can deliver HD signals, manufacturers do not offer the facility. Therefore, although an analog TV can display a Bluray disc, it will only ever be in standard definition. To experience full resolution, the TV must have an HDMI connector which of course means that the television is a digital model. The TV should also be HD capable to obtain the best quality.
A tv antenna and a digital tv and/or a converter box.
All Americans need digital TV's because analog TV transmissions have ceased.
Comcast will provide you with a digital tv box that allows your television to receive the digital signal and therefore you won't need the digital tv antenna.
yes it will come with a bluray, dvd, and digital copy
Digital convertor boxes are meant for those who do not have newer TV sets with digital tuners built-in. The need for these came a few years ago with the digital changeover from the old analog signals. If you have cable or satellite as a provider, you do not need a converter at all. If you are currently using antenna TV and can actually see shows, then you do not need a box, you have a digital tuner already.
NO Retard!
