Master Chief does not die. After completing Halo on any difficulty, if you wait for the credits to end (might want to get something to eat and drink while waiting, they take ages), and if you do not skip it afterwards you will see the final cutscene. It depicts Master Chief floating inside the Remaining half of the frigate Forward Unto Dawn. The replacement ring collapsed upon firing and it's blast radius was only big enough to wipe out the Gravemind and damage the Ark such that all flood parasite forms were destroyed by the collapse or by the sentinels, so he is still alive but is drifting in space. He enters a cryogenic state, similar to the state he left at the beginning of Combat Evolved. The ship is then caught in the gravitational pull of another planet. It is most likely a shield world similar to Onyx, or it may be a totally new planet which will be a possible feature of Halo Chronicles or another possible sequel from 343 industries. HE IS ALIVE!
EDIT: to make it even cooler, the planet he is on is his training planet, if you read the first halo book. This planet is Sigma Octunas IV. In the books, this happens, and it continues by him exiting cyro-sleep, walking on the planet and finding his training officer's corpse, Chief Mendez.
The Master Chief does NOT die. You see, when he, Cortana, and the Arbiter escape from the destruction of Installation 04B, the Forward Unto Dawn only makes it half way through the Portal of Voi. When the Arbiter went to the front of the frigate, the Chief was delayed when he almost fell off the back hanger. After he got back on his feet again, he didn't have enough time - Halo had already activated and began to shake itself to pieces, causing a massive explosion. At the ceremony to follow, only the Arbiter is there because only his half of the frigate escapes through the portal. But, the Chief's half was actually notdestroyed, it just didn't make it. It's now floating through space, unknown to everyone else. He is presumed dead, but he's not. He's actually headed for an unidentified nearby planet. Whether he dies in the atmospheric entry is still not known, but Master Chief Petty Officer John SPARTAN-117 does have a lot of luck on his side. Cortana, however, is doomed to 'die'. Artificial Intelligences, AIs, have a period of time in which they function and show personality, like they're real people. The average AI 'life' expectancy is about seven years. Cortana's already past that mark, and almost went 'rampant' as it's called when AIs stop working when she was aboard the Flood-occupied High Charity. She was almost rampant, but she wound up being discovered again by the Master Chief. But, if he does die on this unknown planet, it won't be in Halo 3. So, the answer to this question is: no. He doesn't die.
NO! At the end of the game wait until the credits are over and you will see a movie and master chief is still alive. He is stuck with Cortana where Installation 00 or the Halo in that game blew up, and he goes into a cryo-tube, which is something that you go into that makes you fall into hibernation and you can't die. This could be the start to a future game in the Halo Series. Ya, i luved dat wen dat happened yay!!!
No he did not,he actually survived but he's up in a escape ship lost in space.
No. He put himself in a capsule at the end of the credits and he tells Cortana, "Wake me when you need me" Then the ship he was on started to land on another planet [ I don't know which one so don't ask me] This made cry for about 3 hours and another thing is that to see this extra clip you have to beat Legendary and watch the credits. [SPOILER]
Yes he is. If you complete the final mission in the campaign on legendary you will see an extra cutscene showing you that he survives. The easier way to see this cutscene would be to go to YouTube and search "Halo 3 last cutscene on legendary."
Not yet, at least... Master Chief might die in previous games, but not yet
Master Chief is a kick-ass Spartan II so obviously he could not die or there wouldn't be another Halo game.
NO he does not he goes into cryo sleep in the remaining half of the frigate after the explosion and credits
It is mostly unknown but most of my "sources" tell me no.
Technically,he just floated off into space in a UNSC cruiser with Cortana and the Arbiter.
The Master Cheif does not die in halo, but he does kill that annoying monotor droid - 343 guilty spark
no he when to halo 4
Presently, the whereabouts of Master Chief in the Halo universe are unknown. And, it is unlikely that 343 Industries will end such a profitable franchise that they only recently acquired. So, I -and many others- would go with "no."
He lands on the Forerunner planet (Halo Legends)
Master Chief is currently still alive in the end of Halo 3. It may seem he is dead but he is alive in his suit. He is just separated from the rest of the human race. he does die
yes:D
in halo 6 the master chief will end his life
He might in a future Halo game.
No. Halo Wars was set far before the happenings of Halo 1, which had the Master Chief in it. Sargent Forge (Also not sharing the same name with the Chief) was killed at the End of Halo Wars, and could not have lived on to take part in the happenings of Halo 1.
In halo 1,2, and 3, the only spartan there is is master chief, or John 117. In halo reach there are still a group of Spartans left, until the end when they all die.
Because at the end of Halo 3, Master Chief and Cortana don't make it through the portal in time so they are left drifting.
master chief. the whole noble team died in the end of reach. master chief hasn't died in any of the halo games yet. he has much better training than them too
They have already made halo reach which does not include master chief the people replacing him are the noble team. Although at the end of the game in a cut scene you can see master chief in a tube where he is being preserved.
