The short answer is yes, most definitely! I have been taking Lamisil for almost two months. I am stopping today! After about 40 days I suddenly noticed a whole lot of exposed scalp I have never seen before and I'm in shock about it. Before I started taking the drug, I had read in some online forums a lot of people claiming to have suffered hair loss. So before the treatment began, every morning when I took a shower I started counting the number hairs that would come out. Now eight weeks into the treatment, that number has grown 10 fold compared to what it was before. I asked my doctor before starting this treatment if she was aware of hair loss as a side effect and she claimed ignorance. I think now she's getting a kickback from the pharmaceutical company because I find it hard to believe I'm her only patient who has experienced this. And I don't know how these companies get away with claiming hair loss as a side effect is "rare" because I really don't think it is. Before resorting to terbinafine to treat your nail fungus, I would recommend you try all other options, like laser treatment.

∙ 12y agoI took Terbinafine for 12 weeks for a toenail infection. I have always had a fairly thick head of healthy hair. I never dye or treat my hair in any way. My hair started falling out during the time I took the drug, and what didn't fall out broke off. My hair is a mess. So no, it doesn't help with hair loss. There are websites that say the fungal infection causes the hair loss, not the drug. I put off taking the drug for 10 years, and finally gave in when all the nails were infected. It wasn't until I started taking the drug that my hair fell out.
