there are many different reed sizes;size, which in this case means density

a 21/2 would be ideal for a begginer. the following are 3, 31/2, 4, 41/2, and 5.

there are also professional sizes.

other instruments that use a reed include all saxophones and all clarinets.

there is also a type of reed called a "double reed", which is two reeds fused together.instruments that have this include the Oboe, English horn, and the bassoon.
