What are some good plants to plant around your above-ground pool?

Personally, short, well rooted grass is what I think is best. It is out of the way and durable enough to allow for people to walk on it often and comfortably. Well rooted so that it will not uproot and end up in your pool. As far as other plants, just make sure you have enough space between them and your pool to avoid leaves and/or petals in your pool, as they can be annoying to remove.

What is the cause of green algae in pool?

Algae are a very simple type of plant, and like all plants they need water, food, and sunlight. There are different types, the most common being one of the varieties of green, but there is also yellow "mustard" algae, and the dreaded "black" algae which is hard to get rid of. Chlorine, Bromine, or an alternative like Baquacil is added to a pool to make it a hostile environment for algae and bacteria. If the chemical composition of the water is kept properly, algae shouldn't be able to grow in a pool. However, if the chemical level drops too far, algae can grow. They feed on phosphates and other trace chemicals in the water, and use the energy from sunlight to "power" their food-making process. One way that algae can get a "jump-start" is if there is organic debris in the pool like leaves, grass clippings, flower petals, etc. This organic debris is a prime source of fresh algae spores, and it will also react with the chlorine or other purifying chemical in the water, in effect using it up, causing the chemical levels to drop. To avoid this double-whammy, daily get organic debris out of the pool and skimmer baskets. If you have an algae problem in your pool, see your local pool store for chemicals to "shock" the pool by boosting the chlorine content briefly, an algaecide for the specific type of algae you have, and a treatment to remove the phosphates from the water to prevent future algae growth. NEGLECT.

Should you tie the pool water leveler to the water softener?

You can, if the water presently in the pool is 'hard' - but be very careful to keep an eye on the Calcium Hardness of the pool water. If you filled a pool with water from the softener, the water would be hungry for calcium and drag it out of the pool walls, making them feel and look like sandpaper. Calcium hardness should be kept within 200-275ppm. best to use regular water for topup and keep the pool water properly balanced (see your local pool store).

Will the gravity be enough to grow plants or hold water in a pool on mars?

The gravity will hold water in the pool however the lack of humidity in the atmosphere would probably cause the water to evaporate very rapidly. Plants would have problems as well with this not to mention a requirement for an atmosphere that is composed of the gases they need for them to grow.

Swimming pool has very clear water but requires lots of acid and has some small spots of algae growing?

algea is in the water, sun light makes it grow, so if water is clear it will grow, use an algaeside, It takes many things added together to make for a pristine pool environment. Proper filtration, proper water chemistry, proper cleaning and maintenance - daily or weekly. Even the temperature of the water and the amount of people (or dogs) using the pool. (DOGS = NOT A GOOD IDEA FOR THEM TO USE THE POOL). And how much debris is blowing into the pool - are there trees or plants that shed into the pool. Many, many factors influence pool water quality.

Does an oasis occur when water is forced to the surface in a desert?

Yes, the water comes to the surface as a spring or pool. It allows more plants to grow in the region and is a source of water for man and wildlife.

How can you make the plants grow faster?

You can give a plant fertilizer, minerals, and water it daily. Make sure that you get pots with holes so that water doesn't get trapped in a pool inside, and watering just every other day will help enough. There are myths that coffee ground can help a plant's growth, but there is not much to support that.
