Unfortunately the answer is yes. Hate is an emotion - something that we feel - and is seldom a useful one. It has been described as "a substance that destroys the vessel containing it".
Anger management techniques are one way out of feeling this emotion. But if people say they hate you, then just ignore them. Unless their opinion is based on a real injustice that you can correct. If so do so.
