Some rayon will shrink when washed, and some types also bleed onto the clothes they are washed with. Be sure to check the washing instructions printed on the label of the garment. You can also minimize damage by putting the rayon into a mesh bag, then putting it into the washer.
Oh yes and it wrinkles badly too. I don't buy it for that reason.
All polymer based fibres / products will shrink when heated. The type of polymer dictates the level of heat required, while I do not know the specific temperature this occurs for Rayon, I am guessing maybe 180 C to 200 C. That is why the warning label says "do not tumble dry"... To safely see the shrinkage effect, fill a everyday water bottle with hot water from a tap !

YES IT DOES.I am in garments manufacturing and washing care info. put on labels for the 'rayon - spandex' is as follow to prevent from shrinking or stretching.Hand wash in cold waterNo chlorine bleachLay flat to dry (to prevent from stretching or shrinking by heat from dryer)Cool iron only.or Dry clean (if its expensive dress and affordable)
Rayon was the first mandmade fiber to be produced and is known as a regenerated cellulose. Rayon is known as "artificial silk" and was created as a less expensive alternative to silk, although rayon is still an expensive fabric. It is easily wrinkles and shrinks, and is usually dry clean only. However, modifications can be made to rayon to make it stronger, known as HT Rayon. Modal is rayon that is washable.
millions of it
Oh yeah. My crinkled rayon top is less than half its former self now.
Wood fiber. Some rayons shrink or lose their shape (or their dye) when put into water, so most rayons should be handled with care in cleaning.

No rayon is not renewable. Rayon is not a natural material. Rayon is a synthetic material.

The common name for rayon is viscose rayon or art silk.
