White sugar and brown sugar are gluten free. Alcohol sugar has gluten or a gluten effect to it. Do not eat anything with sugar alcohol in it if you're gluten intolerant.

Most sugars do not contain gluten however exceptions could be icing sugar which sometimes has it added and some pre made icing also has it added. If you are gluten intolerant or have coeliac disease, it's really important to read food labels or ask if at cafes etc. Gluten is put into so many of our foods so if in doubt, don't eat it or phone the freephone number on the packaging.

Pure table sugar has the chemical name of sucrose, with the molecular formula of C12H22O11. Glutens are a separate substance altogether in comparison.
