The V8 doesn't completely sink into the soil. Over time, this forms a cap of the solids that are in the V8. This causes white mold to form. Eventually the solids of the V8 pile up to the point that the water in the V8 can't penetrate, killing the plant.

No it does not. I just completed a college experiment in which we added V8 juice to our plants watering system and it severely stunted the growth. You would think that V8 (containing plant nutrients) would help a plant but apparently it's only good for humans.
