Dont you think its the most abhorred putrid and detestable situation on earth that the Catholic Church would rather keep their money in a vault instead of giving it to people that dont have any?

It may be true that the Catholic Church appears to be wealthy. They have their own bank within the Vatican City which collapsed during the 1970s due to improper practices. They were accused of 'laundering' money for the mafia. They also have priceless works of art, including paintings, sculpture and architecture. One could argue that the Church is obscenely wealthy, especially since they are a religious organization. They are also on record as saying that all their priceless works of art do not belong to them but to the people. On occasions, tours are conducted through the Vatican to view all the priceless works of art from which they earn money. During Expo in Australia in the 1980s, it was awe inspiring to view such a magnitude of items of apparent wealth. The situation of the Church's wealth is debatable and if true is certainly obscene and certainly not in keep with the teachings of Jesus whom they claim to represent. Further to the above: I visited the Vatican City a few years ago, and, as the above answer describes, the Vatican museums are stuffed with priceless paintings, statues and so on. In one corridor every square inch of wall (and ceiling) space is covered in priceless art, and the statues were often 4-5 deep either side of the central walkway along the corridors.The sale of just one painting of the thousands on view would feed a third world nation for a generation. And what is on view is but a small percentage of what is locked away in vaults, never to be seen. The official line of the Vatican is that these treasures are there as protection and conservation of the art for the public good - ie they are acting as stewards of this art for generations to come. However, this excuse is a little feeble. Museums that wish to maintain art in such a fashion can sell paintings to multimillionares, but then these continue to keep the paintings in the museum on permanent loan. That way they are not responsible for the security of the painting, have no insurance to pay, it is on view for all to see, but the painting remains the property of the buyer and becomes part of their estate when they die and is passed on to their descendents as part of the family estate. In this way everyone benefits. However the Vatican refuses to do this sort of thing, instead amassing great wealth for its own ends. As the above answer testifies, this was totally against the teachings of Jesus Christ and quite abhorrent to God.
