Information system has five parts: people, procedures, software, hardware and data. People: It's easy to overlook people as one of the five parts of a microcomputer system.Yet this is what microcomputers are all about--making people, end users like yourself, more productive. Procedures:The rules or guidelines people follow when using software, hardware ,and data are procedures.Typically, these procedures.Typically, these procedures are documented in manuals written by computer specialists.Software and hardware manufacturers provide manuals with their products. Software: A program consists of the step-by-step instructions that tell the computer how to do its work.Software is another name for a program or programs. The purpose of software is to convert data(unprocessed facts) int information(processed facts). Hardware: The equipment that processes the data to create information is called hardware. It includes the keyboard ,mouse, monitor, system unit, and other devices.Hardware is controlled by software. Data: The raw, unprocessed facts, including text, numbers, images, and sounds are called data.Examples of raw facts are hours you worked and your pay rate. After data is processed through the computer,it is usually called information. An example of such information is the total wages owed you for a week's work.

CPU: Inside a CPU are copper wires that goes on and off a billion times a second. (A Ghz is one billion times a second). Outside are pins on the end that allows the CPU to take in and out information. In the CPU are multiple components. The first one is the Control Unit. It receives its order from RAM as an instruction. Each operation is a arithmetic problem. This is where the second component of the CPU comes in, The Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU for short). The Control Unit sends a problem to the ALU. The two numbers are known as Input A and Input B. The Control Unit also sends what kind of operation to do (Addition, Subtraction, even Comparision!). The ALU performs the operation then outputs the answer. Where does the output go? There are eight wires in the output section of the ALU. The eight wires go to what is called a register. The output won't be saved until the Control Unit turns on the set wire in order to remove a number, we need another control wire called the enable wire. Now the output wires can connect to what is called the CPU Bus. On the bus are more registers with their own saved number. Now we need to tell RAM for the next piece of data, so we have what is called a Memory Address.Where is the processed info sent? Now we have the control wires that sends and receives data to the Keyboard, monitor, and so on.

RAM: RAM sends the command to the CPU. RAMhas what is called a Memory Address. These are just numbers that stores a command needed for the job. When the CPU tells the RAM it's ready for another command.
