How can you detox your body from opiates without feeling pain?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It's rare that people can get off synthetic or street opioids without any physical pain, and of course it depends on how much opioid use is involved. The reason for this is that physicians are reluctant to prescribe you with pharmaceutical opioids with which you can step down. What you'd be doing is weaning yourself off the opioids gradually, in order to minimize discomfort -- but that means spreading out what discomfort there is over time. Synthetics (Fentanyl, Suboxone, methadone, in that order) take longer. I would encourage you to think outside the box and look at Ibogaine.

Ibogaine is a plant-based medicine that takes away withdrawal and resets the dopamine receptors that get damaged from chronic opioid use; proper treatment with Ibogaine can be found in Mexico, not in the US, most of western Europe, or Canada.

A proper Ibogaine clinic would do one of two things: either coach you through transitioning onto a short-acting (real) opioid, such as morphine, Oxycontin, or percoset prior to coming for Ibogaine treatment; or facilitate the detox on site, which would run into weeks of residency and more money spent on medications and nursing services if they're synthetics. It can be done, but the goal is to get the toxins out of your system in order for the Ibogaine to work.

NewPathIbogaine.com would be the best Ibogaine clinic for you, whether they detox you, or you detox yourself.

Does Dilaudid and vicodin shown as opiate in urine?

No, hydromorphone hydrochloride breaks down into morphine and to it subsequent metabolites. Vicodine metabolites and antibodies are slightly different. Unfortunatly those differences are within the existing sciences capabilities to detect.

Karl Marx wrote that religion was the opiate of the people. What does that mean?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No, he didn't. He's misquoted saying that, "Religion is the opiate of the people."

The actual quotation is, "Religion is the sign of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."

Anyways, the meaning behind this quotation is the fact that he expresses that religion is an escape for people's emotions and to work towards a specific goal. For example, opium of the people describes a way to escape the harsh realities of our society and human nature. To be happy through an illusion as you could say, back in the time that Karl Marx made this statement, opium was used as a sedative, painkiller, so the definition of this quotation can have many different meanings.

What is the Most natural form of morphine prescribed?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Well, all opiates are generally "safe" when not used in conjunction with other drugs and not used in excess. The only actual physical symptoms are constipation and itchiness. Of course, once you become dependent, the withdrawal is the same for all opiates.

So to answer your questions, the "safest" form of morphine is any opiate pharmaceutical. They're made in a lab. Heroin is produced on the black market, so the chances of someone cutting it with impurities are much larger, however typically heroin is the least expensive/most potent opiate.

So they're all equally safe provided you use them as directed, however, once you become dependent, the pain is indescribable. I literally can't describe it. It's literally the worst pain a human being can survive...

I was a heroin addict for almost a year. Trust me. I started with hydrocodone and oxycodone. The pills are the same as the dope (heroin), they're just more expensive and don't work as well.

Will you fail an opiate test taking methadone?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I actually read in several articles that doctors have to do a separate drug test for Methadone to detect it. Normally, they wont do this. They'll just check for the common drugs. So I think you should be okay... unless this place ends up asking for a drug test for Methadone since drug addicts are far more common these days. I'm not entirely sure how long it takes for Methadone to get out of your system, I know it can take quite a while due to its long half-life, but it depends on how long you've been taking it and how much you've been taking. If you've only taken one half of a Methadone one time, I'd give it at least a 4 days to a week before feeling confident.

What is dilata?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Dilata is the street name for the medication, Dilaudid. Dilaudid is the brand name for hydromorphone.

Dilaudid is a pain relieving narcotic, an opiate. It works on the central nervous system (causing drowsiness, slowed reaction, pupil constriction, etc.). The effects are somewhat similar to the effects of alcohol. However--It is a stronger synthesized form of Morphine. It causes release of dopamine in the brain, and produces strong feelings of relaxation. Dilaudid has a high potential for abuse, and when given by medical professionals is monitored accordingly. Physical and mental withdrawal symptoms can occur with prolonged use, but doctors will taper you off of it if need be.

Opiates are legal, as long as you have a valid prescription. They are considered illegal if you have obtained them without a prescription. The only completely illegal opiate out there is heroin, being as it is never prescribed.

How can you help your opiate withdraws?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Take suboxone for one to three weeks depending on the severity of your symptoms. This will make withdrawls at best tolerable.Be sure to gradually decrease your dose. You can do it under doctor supervision but it is not mandatory. Take cold medication and devote time to sleeping. Try aspirin or cold meds to alleviate aches and discomfort. You are going to feel sick regardless of what you do, so it is best to just man up. You should be fine in a couple of days; it is safe to detox yourself from opiates at home. I have done it several times. Good luck!

Can hydrocodon acetaminophen 5-500 test positive for opiates?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The pharmaceutical you are talking about is hydrocodone, not "hydrcodon."

Vicoden, Lortab, Tylox, and there are other brand-name drugs, are all a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol. Thus, when you see "hydrocodone/APAP 5/500," that means the tablet contains 5 mg of hydrocodone and 500 mg of acetaminophen.

Hydrocodone is a DEA Schedule lll controlled substance because it is a powerful opiate; it's slightly less potent than morphine. If one has taken even less than one tablet, then that person's urine or blood will test positive for opiates until almost all of the drug is out of their system. The length of time until most of the drug is out of someone's system depends on how long they have been using the drug, the amounts of the doses they have been using, and on the individual. In most cases, almost all of the drug will be out of a person's body after 72 hours.

Taking more hydrocodone/acetaminophen tablets than prescribed can be, and usually is, very dangerous. It is ironic that the acetaminophen is actually more dangerous than the hydrocodone, assuming that the person taking the tablets isn't allergic to hydrocodone. The maximum amount of acetaminophen persons of different ages should take in any 24 hour period is listed on all containers of the drug. That amount is 3,600 mg for adults. Taking more acetaminophen than that can cause permanent damage to one's liver, and even adults who take 10,000 mg or more in one day may die from liver failure without quick medical intervention to remove any acetaminophen still in the person's stomach.

Finally, any medication that contains hydrocodone can only be legally obtained with a valid prescription. A lot of people buy or are given hydrocodone tablets to take for recreational, rather than medical, purposes. Doing this is very foolish because a certain fraction of persons will end up being addicted to opiates, and no one knows at the beginning if they are one of those people. Of course talking any prescription drug is illegal, but taking a controlled substance without a prescription can send a person to jail. How many employers are going to hire someone who has a criminal record that includes a drug charge? If someone offers to give or sell you an illegal drug or a prescription drug that wasn't prescribed to you, please walk away.

Can alcohol help get opiates out of your system?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Alcohol cannot accelerate the disassociation of the methadone from the receptors in your brain (which is the withdrawal. If you take methadone with Alcohol it can lead to the "feeling of withdrawal, but what you are feeling is symptoms of overdose, which feel similar. Both can depress the respiratory system and that is why it is so dangerous to take together, as is benzos and methadone. It can kill you.

What are the social effects of morphine?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The person taking the morphine becomes very sleepy, slow, looks like there half awake, and doesn't do much besides sleep. It is terrible watching someone get addicted to this drug because it consumes their life. They can become so dependent that they sell or pawn off items that used to be important just to get more morphine. It is very sad to see someone fall into this terrible habit and extremely difficult to get them to stop. It is a drug that can tear apart a family. I would highly recommend avoiding it, even though it does relieve pain, the side effects are far worse, not to mention the effects of withdrawal.

Why do opiate withdrawals cause you to have diarrhea?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

When a person attempts to stop using the opiate, they will go through withdrawal for about one week. Post acute withdrawal symptoms last much longer than that and include extreme sensitivity to pain as the natural pain receptors have vanished. The pain tolerance that a normal person has is no longer present in the opiate addict. They also experience a complete lack of motivation because the natural receptors are gone.

Why did you fail a drug screen for morphine?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

First of all if you're worried about being sanctioned by the courts for a dirty drug screen, the best way to pass is time. Plenty of water should be drinken as well as cranberry juice and minimum exercise to sweat it out of you're system. A system cleaner from a head shop wouldn't hurt but is unreliable.

What is the classification of opiates?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Opiates are their own class of drugs.

If you are talking about what class of controlled substances opiates are in, they are members of three classes. Illegal opiates like heroin and many other illegal drugs are DEA Schedule I drugs. No Schedule I drug is legal in the US. The stronger opiates like morphine, fentanyl, oxycodone, hydromorphone (Dilaudid), oxymorphone (Opana), and methadone are Schedule II controlled substances. The weaker opiates such as codeine, dihydrocodeine, and hydrocodone (Vicoden) are Schedule III drugs, although the DEA is currently considering moving hydrocodone into Schedule II.
