Please look at the coin again and post new question. No one dollar gold coins were issued in 1879 from the San Francisco Mint.
San Francisco, California
The mint mark would be located on the reverse of the coin, beneath the center of the wreath. In the case of the 1921 Morgan silver dollar, it wouldn't matter as the coins minted in Philadelphia (no mintmark), Denver ("D") and San Francisco ("S") all have similar values. In the case of the 1879 Morgan silver dollar, the Philadelphia, San Francisco and New Orleans ("O") minted coins have roughly similar values, but those minted in Carson City, Nevada ("CC") are worth markedly more.
Sorry this isn't a American silver eagle. This is a Morgan silver dollar. The mintmark is located above the DO in DOLLAR on the back of the coin.
The George Washington dollar coin was the first of the Presidential dollar series. It was minted in 2007.
Look on the reverse, between the "O" of the word "ONE" and the tip of the wing feathers. If there is a small "S" there, the coin was minted in San Francisco. If not, it was minted in Philadelphia.
Look on the reverse of the coin. If there is a small "D" or "S" under the word "ONE" then it was minted in Denver or San Francisco. If there is no letter below"ONE" it was minted in Philadelphia.
The first US Dollar coin was minted in 1794.
The 1879 Morgan Dollar was produced at 4 different US Mints: Philadelphia, Carson City, New Orleans, San Francisco. To determine which mint struck your coin it is necessary to locate the mint mark. This mark is found on the reverse side of the coin just above the letters "DO" in the word "DOLLAR". A small letter "S" is for San Francisco. A small letter "O" is for New Orleans. The small letters "CC" is for Carson City. If the are no small letters then the coin was minted at Philadelphia. Please examine your coin to determine which mint it was struck at and then post a new question containing the new information.
It's a coin that was minted at the New Orleans Mint. That facility operated from 1838 to 1861 and then again from 1879 to 1909. To find out the value of a specific coin minted there you'll need to post a new question with its date.
Probably still one dollar. The only ones worth more are the silver or proof coins minted in San Francisco.
If it has no mintmark, it was struck in Philadelphia. S= San Francisco CC= Carson City
Assuming the coin is circulated and has no mintmark, the 1879 Morgan dollar is a very common coin with retail values of $23.00-$31.00 depending on the grade of the coin.
