History of Muhammad

The name Muhammad means Praised One. Muhammad was born in 570/571 A.D. His father was Abdullah and mother was Amina. His father died before he was born. He was then taken into his grandfather's care Abdul Mutalib. His grandfather took care of him by the help of a woman called Halima. When Muhammad was 5 he was brought back to his mother. A year later his mother died and another year later his grandfather died. Muhammad was 8 at that time and his uncle Abu Talib came to take care of him. Abu Talib was going to Syria when he met a hermit who told him that Muhammad would be a great person in future therefore he should make him stay in Makkah.

Muhammad grew up and worked for a woman called khadijah because of his honesty they gave him the name Al-Amin.Muhammad married Khadijah some years later. Muhammad had his first revelation from Allah when he was meditating on a mountain. Because of his new faith muslims or followers of Muhammad were killed his own wife and uncle were victims of such cruelty. Muhammad therefore fled to Madina. This is known as the Hejira.
