How can a Furry change species if their fursona is supposed to represent themselves as an animal trapped in a human body?

A fursona doesn't always have to represent an animal trapped in a human body. I fact, a fursona doesn't really have to be spiritual at all. Some can use it as an alter ego. Some can create one to use mainly as a avatar. Some just create one for the heck of it. So one can have an alternate fursona if it is desired (in fact alot of furs have alternate fursonas).
