Children learn their morals both from their family of origin, and the larger community of friends and school. It is important for adults to understand that morality is children (including teens) is a developmental process that takes place throughout the years of a child's life. This process can be guided and worked with a bit better if the adult understands the different levels of moral understanding that a child goes through at what age.

Morality is a set of human virtues and behavior that gives dignity to humans and differentiates him from the beast. Morality has been incorporated in religious practices since antiquity and passed down in the cultural heritage through every civilized community as doctrines ingrained in the social psyche.

Morality is innate in humans and no religious scriptures can teach morality nor can it be learnt by reciting holy verses. morality can be experienced by self realization.

Parents are the first set of virtues and values that a child quickly imitates and learns through experiences.Parents who express anger and resort to physical abuse reflect the same to the child who quickly learns to inculcate as amoral behavior.A teacher who is a liar cannot teach truth.

A child first learns to imitate first from his parents, family, siblings, peer groups, school ,community and the social surrounding that reflect vices that must be restrained first if the child is to experience morality not to exclude the powerful mass media that can influence morality or corrupt a child's mind.

In a world without God, any attempt to imbibe morality through religious teaching will be in vain. The child must under the guidance of parents/teachers seek for himself the goodness in humans with compassion to realize morality.
