Well, you have to be careful about who's friend code you put on your friend roster. Some nasty people create these items called 'seeds' with a thing called Action Replay, which can do something simple like add a load of rocks or money trees in your town, or they can cause harm, by putting a hacked museum in front of your gate or house. You should only put people you know very well on your friend roster, as you never know who could own nasty seeds.
You know when you get seeded when someone stops and puts their fist to their chin (as if thinking). This means that they are looking in their pocket. It happens to everybody while they are looking through their pocket. You know how a noise is made when you drop an item out of your pocket onto the floor? If you hear that noise from them, but they don't actually drop anything, it means you've been seeded. If you go into a room and out again, or a pop up comes up on your screen then dissapears again, the seed will appear. Don't completely panic if you hear the noise though! Firstly, do NOT let them go out through your town gates again. Once they do that, the game will be saved and you will have a seed saved there. Secondly, don't save atall! Some seeders will ask you to save. They may just continously say, "I want to save." Some might be clever, and say something along the lines of "I bought a hat in Ables, so can you save please?" Just push the power button and turn the DS off for either of them, especially if you have been seeded.
What makes it so hard is, you don't know when they have actually bought a hat or not. If you have invited someone to your town who you don't know well, follow them. Don't let them out of your sight. You could be in your house, they could say they are going to the museum and leave the house, and they could of put a town hall seed in front of your door so you can't leave your house! Make sure you stay near guests for the first few times they visit. If it's pretty clear that they are safe, you might be able to leave them to explore your town on their own.
