Start by knowing the cat as all pets are naturally affectionate towards you except if they have a history of abuse or torture if abuse has occurred then bonding can occur through feeding and stroking under chin and over head also try good pet food as it can get rid of diseases unknown to layman human thus allowing the cat to be more comfortable. Note: a cat has a very poor digestive system and a very short intestine that is unable to absorb most nutrients so it usually relaxes most of the time to retain energy and may become unaffectionate as it may seem to humans. Also if you have a breed that prefers to remain solitude or a wild breed than much cannot happen anyway. (p.s.) try getting Turkish angoras they are very loving and playful Another Answer: Just love them. It has worked for me.
