How do humanitarians help refugees?

I go to Jesuit High School in Sac, Cal, and we were contacted by the JRS/USA (look it up) to write a play about refugees and their struggles to help raise awareness. The play is going to be sent to Jesuit high schools and colleges around the world to be used. That's just what we're doing; there are tons of other things that you can do also.

by providing more medical care and collecting food from other countries and offering it to the refugees, they also need to have clean water by collecting water from the ocean and clean it/take off the dirt inside it and giving the refugees clean water, they need to build schools to educate their students and hospitals to help people with illnesses and diseases by bringing specialists from other countries but need to pay good amount :)

As far as natural disasters are concerned very little can be done. Economic and social problems can be tackled, not easily or quickly.
In this area the biggest problem is economic inequality.
We are a cynical race, more than willing to help if it does not affect our own lifestyles. Willing to give a few dollars, pounds, euros, etc., so long as it does not make a big impact on us and how we live.
The most often heard argument is "It's their problem, let them sort it out. I gave last month".
