You can't... if you're a narcissist. But if you're wondering whether you are... you probably aren't. A narcissist would never consider he/she is one, or admit that they are when confronted that they might be. There are lots of sites/pages out there that explain the main criteria... grandiose/fantasy, lack of empathy, self-absorbed, craving attention, etc.

set them up with praise, then subtly let them know you're aware of their pathology. that could be dangerous though, depending on how vindictive or violent they are. you can always just cut them out of your life.
