Everyone interprets The Bible differently; there's no way to tell what you would learn from the story unless you read it yourself. If you mean what mistakes were made that we are meant to learn from, I'd still say that. Bear in mind, however, that the entire Old Testament was handed down through voice, and as such, you can't count on anything within to be a hundred percent accurate due to different interpretations throughout generations.
