Things called Capture Cards are your answers. Things from a "Dazzle DVC100" to a "Happauge 1212" are little boxes that you take the output cords (audio and video) and plug them into the system, from there advanced systems (like the happuage) will have two output locations. One is the USB output which you plug into your computer, then with the software you would record. And two the output cords (either HDMI or Composite) would plug into your TV.

if you want to record videos on a computer get hypercam 2. i am not sure how to record on a tv, but maybe if you plug in your camera.... hmmm. i would try plugging in a camera then if that doesn't work, set a camera up on a tripod or stool and record it. then you could try using some video enhancer or something.
