How can you recover your password if you forgot it?

When your computer first starts up and you see the logo hit the F8 key. It will bring you to a menu where you use the arrow keys to select safe mode. Your computer will go to the normal log-in page, but you will see a the administrator user and you log-in as the administrator. Then you open the start menu and click on control panel. You find the icon that says user accounts and click on it. It will open and then you click on the user you forgot the password to. It will open and you will get choices of what you can do. Click on change password, then follow the directions. You can then shut down your computer and at the logo hit F8 again. Then select start windows normally and then enter your password you had changed it to. As far as I know this only works for windows xp computers, but it might work for other computers as well.

Unless you can somehow find the password, you will have to delete the profile. To do this, you log in as a guest and enter the control panel. From there you can access the user list and delete whichever one it is that you forgot the password to. but when i enter the password the p.c is loog off ? why this is happen i cant under stand ?

There are a few ways to recover a lost Windows XP password.

If you have more than one account on your computer, you can reset the password using the command line utility "net user". For example, if the account name is Ryan and you wanted to change the password to "password", you would click Start, click Run, and type "net user Ryan password" and click OK.

If you are not confident in doing any of this, ask your local computer shop if they can recover your password for you.

First, think back and try to remember:

1. What kind of password might you have used;
2. Did you write it down in a text file on the computer;
3. Did you write it on paper or in a notebook;
4. Might your parent, spouse, or sibling know the password you used.

If none of the above and you still can't remember it, visit the website or email provider screen. Enter your UserID or Email Address. Look under the password box for the link: "Forgot your password". Wait until the site sends you an password reset link. Enter a new password using the link. Write it in a text file on your computer and save it. Write it down on paper and keep it offline in a safe place. A small notebook just for passwords is helpful.
